About the BE KIND movement

The BE KIND SP 33 group started a BE KIND movement in Sauk Prairie following the recent suicide of 16 yr old Sawyer Martin. Sawyer’s mom, Jessica wrote a beautiful and powerful obituary and in it she asks for people to be kind because your words and actions can hurt- and you don’t know what others are going through.

What started out as us asking a few local businesses to put BE KIND on their signs, soon began a community wide movement to spread awareness of suicide, bullying, mental health and the importance of simply being more kind to people. Conversations have started, and real actions have been taken. The people of Sauk Prairie want to see change and we want to save our kids especially.

The group, which consists of Jessica Martin and a few of her close friends has been selling yard signs and other merchandise to help spread awareness in the Sauk Prairie area and has quickly spread to surrounding communities and beyond! The money raised is being collected for the Sawyer Martin Scholarship Fund and local Mental Health Resources.

It has only been a short time since the first BE KIND message went up and as you drive around the Sauk Prairie area, you will see the reminders EVERYWHERE! It is a heartwarming reminder that this community truly cares and together we can make some real positive changes in this world. We have already been meeting with the school district to help incorporate some wonderful programs.

We do this in remembrance of Sawyer Martin and the other teens in this community that have lost their lives recently as well as those struggling with all forms of mental illness.

Thank you for your support – and lets all do our part to BE KIND.
